Founder-led hardware
One or a handful of products, scattered notes/evidence, and a real need to prepare supplier conversations.
SpecSprout structures your product evidence, separates facts from assumptions, exposes the unknowns that block progress and turns the result into an honest manufacturer-ready handoff.
The strongest fit is an early-stage physical product moving from rough definition toward supplier quotation or prototype — where some decisions are clear, some need qualified external input, and hiding that boundary creates expensive mistakes.
One or a handful of products, scattered notes/evidence, and a real need to prepare supplier conversations.
Enough product intent to move forward, but not enough evidence to pretend every engineering detail is final.
SpecSprout structures evidence and ownership. It does not replace qualified engineering, testing or compliance work.
No giant specification form. Start with what you already have and let the missing work reveal itself.
Describe the product and attach drawings, PDFs, images or notes. The AI extracts atomic requirements without silently filling technical gaps.
See confirmed, partial, inferred and missing requirements. Founder choices stay separate from engineering, supplier, lab and compliance work.
Generate a manufacturer-facing brief that preserves confirmed facts, unresolved requirements and the questions the supplier actually needs to answer.
SpecSprout treats engineering, safety, testing and compliance as evidence problems. If the required proof does not exist, the readiness gate stays blocked.
Critical unresolved technical work prevents a misleading high score.
Turn product descriptions and supporting files into structured atomic requirements with explicit evidence states.
Track importance, owner, stage, validation type, why-it-matters context and unresolved questions per requirement.
Resolve founder choices while keeping engineering, supplier, lab and compliance confirmations appropriately separate.
Keep projects and evidence tied to your account, sync across devices and maintain local resilience for active work.
Generate a clean external brief plus an internal readiness memo without allowing exports to alter the underlying score.
Server-side AI, quotas, rate limits, file validation, CSRF protection and account-scoped cloud authorization are built into the product.
Stop sending factories a concept deck and hoping they infer the missing technical decisions correctly.
Turn client intent and reference material into a transparent requirements model before supplier conversations begin.
Create one source of truth for what is known, what is assumed and who must resolve the remaining work.
Your designs remain yours. Product work can stay in your account-scoped cloud workspace and local browser cache. When you deliberately run an AI feature, the required product text and selected evidence are sent server-side to the configured OpenAI API. OpenAI states that API/business inputs and outputs are not used to train models by default unless the API organization opts in; SpecSprout's Trust Center separately shows whether this deployment has recorded a settings review.
Deleted-project and old-backup retention is user-selectable at 7, 30 or 90 days. External processors can have separate provider/legal retention rules, so those are disclosed separately instead of being hidden behind one retention number.
Prices and plan limits are loaded from the same server-side catalog used by SpecSprout billing. Taxes and final consumer terms depend on the configured seller/payment setup.
SpecSprout is still in its founding stage. Real customer quotes and logos will only appear here after people have actually used the product and explicitly allowed us to publish their feedback.
Until then, judge the product by the workflow, example output and the live app.
It converts your product intent and evidence into structured requirements, readiness stages, unresolved decisions and manufacturer-facing handoffs. It is designed to make gaps explicit rather than guess them away.
It is explicitly instructed not to. Missing engineering, testing, safety and compliance work stays unresolved until appropriate evidence or qualified input exists. The AI can explain options and trade-offs without pretending the choice has already been validated.
No. Readiness is a planning aid. It is not certification, laboratory validation, manufacturability approval, regulatory clearance or professional engineering sign-off.
You retain ownership of your underlying product concepts and uploaded content. The Terms grant only the limited processing rights required to operate the service.
OpenAI states that API/business inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default unless the API organization explicitly opts in. Because that provider setting lives outside the SpecSprout codebase, the Trust Center shows the policy source and whether the deployment has recorded an account-level data-control review. SpecSprout does not claim Zero Data Retention unless it has actually been approved and recorded.
Yes. Signed-in projects and evidence are cloud-backed and associated with your account, with a local browser cache used for resilience.
The live plan catalog includes a Free plan. Paid-plan availability and introductory trial behavior are shown from the current server configuration.
SpecSprout will show you what is solid, what is assumed and what needs to happen next.
